Thomas P. Mitchell

Thomas P. Mitchell, age 70, of Kankakee, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

He was born October 18, 1946 in Kankakee, the son of Casamer & Arlene LaGesse Mitchell.
Thomas married Alice Caise Oderwald on July 13, 1972 in Galena, MO.

He had worked at A.O. Smith, Gould Battery, and later retired from BASF.

Thomas was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Blackhawks and was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. Mr. Mitchell also enjoyed fishing.
He was a veteran serving on a destroyer for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Thomas was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. 

Surviving are his wife, Alice Mitchell of Kankakee; one son, Steven Oderwald of California; two daughters, Crystal & Rod Goodall of Waxhall, NC and Candice Mitchell Bourassa of Lockport; two sisters, Rebecca Mitchell of Lake Zurich and Suzanne Tennessen & Dick McCarty of Wheeling; one sister-in-law, Debra & Darrell Griffen of Bourbonnais; one special uncle, Mike LaGesse; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Brooke, Gabriella, and Mikayla Goodall and Hunter and Cameron Bourassa. 
He is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kankakee Ostomy Association, Salvation Army, or family wishes.
