Rita Charlotte Chudzinski Johnson, age 91, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm at Brown-Jensen Funeral Home, Manteno. A funeral mass was said Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Bradley at noon with burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.

Rita was born on November 16, 1934, at her family home at 18th and Washtenaw in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph L. Chudzinski and Micheline V. Lyczacz. She attended St. Romans Grade School and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1953. On October 16, 1954, Rita married the love of her life, Arthur E. Johnson, at St. Gerald’s in Oak Lawn. Rita dedicated 28 years of service to Quality Business Forms before retiring. Beyond her work, she was most proud of the family she nurtured and the love she shared with those around her.

Rita is survived by her children, Karen (Rick) Dove, Margaret Walsh, Nancy Joyce, and Robert Johnson; grandchildren; Matthew (Elizabeth) McCormack, Jessica (Dean) Dickson, Michael (Gina) Dove, Joshua Dove, Kaitlyn Joyce, and Jamie Joyce; great-grandchildren Paige McCormack, Valerie Dickson, Aubriee Dove, and Andrea Dickson, and Emersyn Dove; and special “Hawaiian” daughter, Laura Gill; brothers-in-law, William (Laureen) Johnson and David (Debbie) Johnson; sister-in-law, Eleanor Homerding; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur E. Johnson; her parents; her grandson, Andrew J. Dove; her great-grandson, Peyton F. McCormack; and her dearly beloved Gloria Jean Machala Bielke Shanahan.

Memorials may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis.
