Marilyn Gruber, age 84, formerly of Bradley, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Hoosier Village in Indianapolis, IN.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass. Inurnment will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
Marilyn was born on December 8, 1940, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of John Jr. and Laura (Sinclair) Walsh. She married Joseph Gruber on August 10, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2017.
Marilyn was a Junior High School Math and Religion Class teacher for nearly forty years at St. Joseph Catholic School in Bradley and parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley.
Surviving are three sons, Joe (Shannon) Gruber of Brownsburg, IN, Dave (Andrea) Gruber of Plainfield, IL, Mike (Annie) Gruber of Evergreen Park, IL; two daughters, Anne (John) Groth of Brownsburg, IN, Kathy (Rick) Burgess of Indianapolis, IN; fifteen grandchildren, Jonathon, Zachery, Erica and Drew Groth, Matt and Noah Wischnowski, Bella Burgess, Joey and Jenna Gruber, Mandy, Mia, and Emma Gruber, Mary, Avery and Michael Gruber; five great grandchildren, Levi and Collins Groth, Beau Wischnowski, Ella Groth, and Calvin Adley; and one brother, Ed Walsh (JoAnn McGee) of Omaha, NE. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; one brother, Patrick (Neva) Walsh.
