Harry S. Martin, age 91, of Kankakee passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Silverado Naperville Memory Care Community.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 2- 5 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Inurnment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Bourbonnais.

Harry was born May 14, 1927 in Bradley, the son of Ovide L. & Verena (Allgaier) Martin. Harry married the love of his life, Mary Streeter, on November 17, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2018.

He worked for his father’s company, O.L. Martin and Sons, before starting Homer & Harry Martin Construction with his twin brother. He was a member of the Kankakee Elks, the Loyal Order of Moose in Bradley and the Carpenters Union Local 496, where he served as trustee on the board. He was an avid golfer who had many holes in one and continued to shoot his age into his 80’s. We are all grateful he has joined Mary in heaven.

Harry was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a parishioner of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Kankakee.

Surviving are three sons and three daughters-in-law, Jeffrey & Mary Martin of Kankakee, Kim & Denise Martin of Champaign, and Andrew & Lise Martin of Lake Bluff; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Lynn & Paul Houser of Lemont, Elizabeth & Benoit Collard of Okemos, MI, and Carol & John Zeng of Naperville; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law, Homer & Mary Martin. In addition to his wife, Mary Martin, Harry is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur Martin and Robert Martin; and three sisters, Dorothy Byrne, Leola Glassford, and Betty Martin.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
