Dwyer Benoit, 99, of Bradley passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Manteno Veteran’s Home.

Visitation was on Monday, November 5, 2018, followed by the funeral service at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee. Burial followed at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kankakee. Deacon Greg Clodi officiated the service.

Dwyer was born on October 3, 1919 in Manteno, the son of Arthur and Maude McGown Benoit.

Dwyer retired from Henkel Corporation in 1985 after 33 years of service. He was also a decorated World War II Veteran with a Purple Heart. He loved bowling, fishing, gardening and reading; but Dwyer was his happiest when he was surrounded by his family.

Surviving are his children Betty and Jerry Powers of Bourbonnais, Hazel and Dearwood Baskerville of Braidwood, Michael and Elizabeth Benoit of Bradley, Christine and Glenn Piggush of Chebanse and Duane Benoit of Bradley; his step-children Carol (Romeo) LaBeau of Chebanse, Lola (Tom) Schafer of Bonfield, Raymond (LaRae) Gullquist of Bourbonnais and (Vickie) Gullquist of Clifton; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Pat Benoit of Bradley; and his sister Mary Burns of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son, Larry Gullquist, five brothers, two sisters, his first wife and mother of his children LaVerne Lawless in 1961, his second wife Mary Gullquist in 1991, and his beloved son Paul Benoit who passed away in 1976.

Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
