Esther M. Ortman, 97, of Bradley passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass on Monday, September 11, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Burial will follow at Ashkum Catholic Cemetery in Ashkum. 

Esther was born March 19, 1920 in Clifton, the daughter of Alfred and Gladys Williams Anderson. She married Robert Ortman on Aug. 22, 1945, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1945.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Mardella Anderson; fourteen nieces and nephews, Arthur (Darlene) Peters of Lexington, SC, Carol (Mort) Goddard of Kankakee, Edward Peters of St. Anne, Michael (Thomas Beirne) Peters of Momence, Wanda (Roger) Jensen of Florissant, MO, James Anderson of Missouri, Linda (John) Gaines of Watseka, Cindy Anderson of Illinois, Carl Anderson, Debbie Draughan of Kentucky, Jennifer Peters Monroe of North Carolina, John (Carolyn) Ortman of Kankakee, Adele Meyer of Chebanse, and Carol Garrison of Conover, WI; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Robert, and Arthur; two sisters, Marie and Mardell; and special friend, Raymond H. Johnson.

Mrs. Ortman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and traveling.

Memorials may be made to Masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley or donor’s choice.
