Joseph Gruber, age 81, of Bradley passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at his home.

Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. Tony Nugent will celebrate the Mass. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the services. Inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. 

Joseph was born October 5, 1936 in Chicago, the son of John & Margaret Murin Gruber. He married Marilyn Walsh on August 10, 1963 at St. Joseph Church in Springfield. Joseph retired from Bunge after 40 years of service. He has been a trustee on the Bradley Police Pension Board.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, where he was a member of the parish council and also served as a past president.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Gruber of Bradley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe & Shannon Gruber of Brownsburg, IN, Dave & Andrea Gruber of Plainfield, and Michael & Annie Gruber of Evergreen Park; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne & John Groth of Brownsburg, IN and Kathy & Rick Burgess of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John & Cynthia Gruber of Traverse City, MI and Bill & Suzanne Gruber of Naperville; Fifteen grandchildren, Jonathon, Zachery, Erica, and Drew Groth, Matt and Noah Wischnowski, Bella Burgess, Joey and Jenna Gruber, Mandy, Mia, and Emma Gruber, and Mary, Avery, and Michael Gruber.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
