Sr. Inga Frank

Sr. Inga Frank, sscm, age 79, of Bourbonnais passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Presence Merkle Knipprath Countryside in Clifton.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral mass on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel in Kankakee. Rev. Anthony Nugent will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Beaverville. 

She was born August 1, 1937 in Waldshut, Germany, the daughter of Ernst and Hilde Strittmatter. She emigrated to the United States of America in December of 1957 and lived in Chicago for 25 years. After her husband’s passing, she became very involved in the Catholic Church which led her to the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary Congregation. She entered in August of 1982, professed her first Vows in August of 1985, and professed her perpetual Vows in August of 1988.

Sr. Inga ministered at Mercy Hospital in Champaign as Pastoral Care Associate for two years and at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee for 26 years. She retired in July 2011. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, where she also volunteered in various activities. She also volunteered with Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Andrew Frank, and Gary & Joyce Frank; grandson, Trevor Frank; and granddaughter, Teague Frank. In addition to her husband R. Frank, she is preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Ilse Busch.

Memorials may be made to Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary Ministry Fund.
