Sharon Lois (Zasada) Kingery, age 89, of Momence, formerly of Kankakee, went to be with Jesus our Lord God and our Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on Monday, Dec 8, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Interment will follow at Mound Grove Gardens in Kankakee.
Sharon was born February 25, 1936, in Kankakee, the daughter of Joseph and Lois (Myers) Surprenant. She married Robert Lee Zasada Sr. on May 4, 1956, and to that union of marriage three children were born. On May 21, 1976, she married William Arthur Kingery in Kankakee.
Sharon graduated in 1954 from Kankakee High School. She studied for Registered Nursing classes at St. Mary’s Hospital before starting a family. Sharon had a very strong work ethic. She loved hosting family holidays. Sharon loved Christmas. She loved to bake and cook. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the “apples of her eyes.”
Sharon worked at Gould National Battery, retiring after 32 years of service. She was a purchasing agent and payroll clerk.
She loved to read, especially Danielle Steele novels. She was past president of St. Theresa’s Catholic Council of Women. She enjoyed bowling and dancing. Sharon was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kankakee and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. She and Arthur were members of the Bradley Moose Lodge. Sharon always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face.
Surviving are her daughter, Dana L. Zasada-Byers of Bourbonnais; one son, Brian Sr. & MaDonna Zasada of Kankakee; one daughter-in-law, Anna Zasada of Manteno; her grandchildren, Amy Ortiz, Brian Jr. (Lyndsay) Zasada, Joshua Byers, Brandon (Tiffany) Zasada, and Morgan Byers; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda (Louis) Larson of St. Augustine, FL; one sister-in-law, Patricia (Orange) Surprenant of West Bend, WI; and many nieces and nephews. Sharon is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lee Zasada Sr. and her second husband, William Arthur Kingery; her parents; one son, Robert Lee Zasada Jr.; her stepdaughter, Angela (Don) Hecke; and her brothers, Tyrell “Terry” Surprenant and Roger Surpenant.
