Marcella Anne “Marcy” Johnston, age 94, of Manteno, and formerly of Bradley, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017, at her daughter's home in Bourbonnais.

Cremation Rites will be accorded. A memorial Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial Mass on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Private family inurnment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Irwin. 

Marcella was born July 26, 1923 in Kankakee, the daughter of Garrett & Mary Evelyn O'Connor Donovan. Marcella married Stephen E. Johnston on October 12, 1941 in Irwin. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1994.

As a teenager, Marcella worked at Bear Brand Hosiery. Later, she worked in the cafeteria at Bishop McNamara High School for 18 years.

Marcella loved her family fiercely! Her greatest pride and joy was to hear her family play and sing, and she NEVER missed an opportunity to DANCE! She was also featured in the local newspaper on a number of occasions because of her lifelong commitment to her Chicago Cubs! It was a dream come true when she cheered them on last year to win the World Series 2016!

Surviving are eight children, Dennis & Colleen Johnston of Bourbonnais, Tim Johnston of Bradley, Fin & Adrienne Johnston of West Hills, CA, Robin Johnston of Manteno, Kevin & Hildy Johnston of Lisle, Debbie & Ed Oberlander of Bourbonnais, Becky Johnston of Bourbonnais, and Mary Johnston of Manteno; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and 6 great- great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband, Marcella is preceded in death by twins that passed away at birth; daughter, Beverly; son, Stephen; daughter, Barb; daughter-in-law, Guylene; and infant grandson Stephen III.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
