Lowell Alan “Red” Mobbs, age 80, of Bradley passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee.

Visitation will be held from 4- 8 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Burial will follow at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery in St. Anne. 

Red was born July 24, 1937 in Ethridge, TN, the son of Willie & Nannie Rigsby Mobbs. He married Betty Mann Russell on July 28, 1963 in Park Forest. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2013. He retired from General Foods and Federal Express. He was a past master at the local Kankakee Mason Lodge and veteran of the United States Navy. Red loved traveling with his wife. He liked to visit thrift shops for antiques; he enjoyed cooking, and collecting knives.

In 2015, Red was fully initiated into the Catholic Church at the age of 78 after taking part in the RCIA process at St. Joseph Parish in Bradley where he was a member.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lance & Sammie Mobbs of Bradley, Craig & Sue Russell of Beaverville, and Steven Russell of Beaverville; seven grandchildren, Brian (Alecia) Ebersole of Sydney, Australia, Mandy (Scott) Vent of Momence, Justin (Tara) Russell of Manhattan, Cheyenne (Nick) Bess of Norfolk, VA, and Brandon (Katie) Russell of St. Anne, Brent Russell of Sugar Hill, GA, and Nikki (Sean) Ziemann of Sugar Hill, GA; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Devin, Lucas, Breanna, Alexandra, Penn, Claire, Madden, Bentley, Brax, Braylan, Adeline, Harper, Jaden, Tyler, Mikayla, and Brooke. In addition to his wife, Betty Jean Mobbs, Red is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hartley& Dorine Mann; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Randolf & Frances Mobbs and William & Mabelinne Mobbs.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
