Kathleen A. Pechauer, age 77 of Bourbonnais, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee. 


Memorial visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at. St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee. Cremation rites have been accorded.


Kathleen was born on March 27, 1948, in Kankakee, the daughter of William T. and Verna (Cotter) Ponikvar. She was a teacher having taught at Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School, Bradley and Osborn Park High School in Manassas, VA, retiring after 40 years of teaching. She worked as a police officer for the Bradley Police Department. Kathleen graduated from Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School. She received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. 


Kathleen loved traveling and reading. Most of all, she loved being with her nieces and nephews. Kathleen was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley.


Surviving are three sisters, Mary (Bruce) Adams of Bourbonnais, Nancy Waller (Bill Chipman) of St. Anne, Julie Ebersole of Bradley; eight nieces and nephews, Ryan (Lindsay) Adams, Brent (Nicole) Adams, Tricia Waller, Alicia (Joe) Garman, Brian (Alecia) Ebersole, Mandy (Scott) Vent, Elizabeth Ebersole (Aaron Brisson), Jacob (Katie) Ebersole; and thirteen great nieces and nephews. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Brian Ebersole.


Memorials may be made to St. Benedict Monastery in Bristow, VA, Muscular Dystrophy Association, or Uplifted Care.
