Fr. Denis White, age 79, died on Dec. 4, 2018.

The body of Fr. White will lie in state at St. Patrick Church in Momence on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, from 9 a.m.-10:50 a.m. and the Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be held after Mass. Burial will be at a later date in Piper City.

Denis White was born on May 30, 1939, in Chicago. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 27, 1967, at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet.

Among various assignments, he served at St. Joseph Parish in Bradley in the early 1970s. He was chaplain at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee in the late 1980s and served as pastor at various parishes in the 1990s until being named pastor of St. Paul Parish in Peotone in 2002.

In addition to responsibilities as a pastor, Fr. White was in charge of pastoral care at the Kankakee Senior Citizen High-Rise and Nursing Home and served as Director of Rural Life.     

Fr. White retired in 2009. But, he continued to minister in the community and at churches in the Kankakee area, including St. Joseph in Bradley.
