Nancy Benson, 76, of Bourbonnais, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
A short visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of the 11:00 am chapel service on Friday, February 15, 2019, at All Saints Mausoleum in Bourbonnais.
Nancy was born on September 28, 1942, in Kankakee, the daughter of Myrna and George Kavaney. They preceded her in death, along with one daughter, Linda Johnson and one sister, Linda Poehler.
She grew up in Bradley, attending St. Joseph Grade School and Bradley High School. She married Judge Roger Benson on May 23, 1986. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2017.
She is survived by three brothers, Charles (Iore) Kavaney, of Kankakee, Daniel (Betty) Kavaney, of Mesa, AZ, and Thomas (Judy) Kavaney, of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by two children, Richard Milton, of Bradley and Barbara Milton, of LasCruces, NM; one son-in-law, Michael Johnson, of Gilman; stepchildren, David (Rose) Benson, of Bradley and Eydie (Scott) Beaver of Rockford; five grandchildren, Nicole and Logan Johnson, Zoie Milton, Stefanie (Mike) Kunevich, and Ayiana Milton; two great grandchildren, Bailey and Paisley Kunevich; seven step-grandchildren, Kyle, Kordell, and Kelsi Benson, Jennifer and Amy Beaver, and Alex and Nicholas Toulon; and several nieces and nephews, including Scott Sherer, of Wisconsin.
She worked for many years as an assistant to the director of manufacturing at Bennett Industries in Peotone and as a travel agent for the last 20 years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family’s wishes.
