Beverly & Howard Duchene 

Beverly Duchene, 88, of Naples, Fla., and formerly a long time resident of Bradley went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2017. Her husband, Howard, had passed away Oct. 10, 2015.

There will be a memorial visitation for Beverly and Howard on Friday, August 18, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schreffler Funeral Home, Bourbonnais Chapel. There will be a joint funeral Mass held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Anthony Nugent officiating. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais.

Howard was a graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School and attended electronic trade school in Chicago while working at the Board of Trade. He was an overseas U.S. Army veteran of World War II, achieving the rank of corporal. Howard was employed by and retired from Home Appliance and Heating Company of Kankakee. He had also served for nearly 35 years on the Bradley Village Board as trustee, clerk and mayor. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, ice skating, swimming and spending time with his family. He was well known for his positive views, kind manners and great sense of humor. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, Hervey and Lucille Boisvert Duchene; brothers, Paul, Roy, and Raymond; and grandson, Brandon.

Beverly was born on April 30, 1929 in Tacoma, WA to Mark “Earl’ Hanon and Anna (Taverna) Decker. She married Howard on Jan. 18, 1953 in Kankakee. 

Beverly spent her youth in Montana. She moved to Bradley and graduated from Kankakee High School. She worked at the Joliet Armory, Kroehler Manufacturing and the Bradley Chiropractic Clinic. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family. Beverly and Howard were long time parishioners of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley where she once dedicated her time driving the Sisters to the grocery store each week before they owned a car.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Vicki) Duchene of Naples, FL, grandsons; Dustin (Ashley) Duchene of Wilmington, Delaware and Ryan (Liz) Duchene of Bear, Delaware, Beverly’s two sisters and one brother-in-law; Betty Mosley of Palm Springs, CA and Karen (Bob) Weir of Acworth, GA, and a brother and sister-in-law, Maurice (Alice) Decker of Kankakee. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Brandon.
