Giving Tree

St. Joseph Parish will once again be offering our annual Giving Tree Outreach. There will be some adjustments this year, but our overall goal is the same as always to bring some Christmas joy to families in our community struggling to make ends meet.

Tags will be available to pick from the tree at the back of the church rather than the entrance as we’ve done in previous years. Please keep distance while picking tags. But, you can also arrange to get tags by calling or texting Pat Knittel at 708-692-7472 or by email at patricia.haseltine@gmail.ccom. She can also answer any questions about this year’s Giving Tree.

Tags can be selected from November 28-29, through Friday Dec. 11. Bring your unwrapped gift to church on the weekend of December 12-13 (before Saturday Mass 3:30-4pm and before or between Sunday Masses). Check in at the door and wear a mask. Again, if you are unable to bring gifts to church, contact Pat Knittel by Dec. 9.

Be sure to attach the ornament to the gift. If you have more than one item, secure them with a ribbon. Place in matching pile. Each type of tag will be placed in its own pile to reduce sorting.

Below we have the Ornament Codes and some Gift ideas. (Please no items needing batteries).

Families: (Sleighs) These are families who have come to the parish for assistance. Some families and their tags will be tied together. Suggestions will be on the tags.

River Valley Pregnancy Center: (Gingerbread boy) Clothes size infant to 6X, toys for ages newborn to 5, crib sheets

Men’s Shelter: (Round ornament) Socks, hats, gloves, hand warmers

Sacred Heart Mission Pembroke: (Bell) Babies to age 3 toys, clothes, blankets, books (Tree) Children 3-8 years toys, blankets, hat & gloves sets, books, puzzles (Snowman) Children 8-12 toys, clothes, hats, mittens, books, board games (Star) Teens blankets, hat & gloves sets, games (Present) Adults and seniors gas or grocery gift cards, puzzle books (large print), hats and gloves. (Please Note: Parish Manna Program is always a great way to purchase gift cards; see our homepage).

Please remember to pray for the person who will receive your gift as part of your Advent journey, asking our Lord to embrace them and their families, that they will know that there are people who care about them. Thanks so much for your participation.

Again, if you have any questions, please call Pat Knittel at 708-692-7472.
