With the national divorce rate hovering around 50 percent and the Kankakee County average even higher, the parish Council of Catholic Women decided it was time to recognize and honor married couples and spotlight the holiness of the sacrament of marriage. After months of planning, the group sponsored an Anniversary Mass July 11 with a nice reception afterward in the parish hall. During the special observance, which was held during the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass, Father Tony invited all married couples to stand and receive a blessing. Click here for the audio. |

Mementos, including wedding pictures of parishioners, were displayed at the reception. Those who attended the festivities after the Mass looked at the photos, enjoyed some fruit and punch, reminisced and got acquainted with people around them. It really was a lovely event and a testament to the married couples of St. Joseph’s. |

The parish's annual Appreciation Weekend was held June 12-13. Ministers and volunteers were spotlighted and received special blessings during each of the Masses. Click here for audio of this special blessing. Celebrations in honor of these dedicated men and women were held in the courtyard. (A downpour didn't dampen our spirits ... The Saturday festivities were moved inside the school). Thanks to all who make St. Joseph's that special place for us to meet the Lord.
