What is the loading time of this template?

  • The pages, without additional graphics added, load at around 12 seconds over 28.8 modem connection.  That translates to 6 seconds over a 56k modem, and, ummm...  well, milliseconds over cable or DSL connection.

Where's the theme???

  • There *is* no theme.  This template relies solely on an external CSS (cascading style sheet) for its font sizes, styles, colors, and table cell colors.

Can I easily change the colors on this template?

  • Very easily, IF you know how to modify a cascading style sheet.  All our fonts and colors are defined in the files "style.css" "style2.css", "style3.css" and "style4.css".  You can open the file of your choice and make the changes for the color numbers there. Note that the upper title area and the text box tops are graphics, so you will need to modify or replace each in an outside, standalone graphics editor to match your new color scheme.

How do I change the "Your Name Here"?

  • It is typed in there with FrontPage; simply open the page "include_top.htm" pages you will be using in FrontPage and replace our text with yours.

Can I change the flash movie?

  • Only if you have Flash 5 or MX and you know how to use it.  We have included the .fla source for the entry movie with the template package.

What impact does flash have on search engine placement?

  • None.  Our embedded flash movies are no different from using graphics that aren't flash movies as far as search engines are concerned.  The standard HTML remains in place, and you will enter your own META tags the same way you would with a non-flash enhanced web site.

What if I don't WANT to use the flash movie?

  • No problem - simply replace the movie on the entry page with one of the included static images, splash(x).jpg, located in the images/design_elements folder of the web, or, replace with your own image.

Can I add more pages?

  • Certainly!  You can add as many as you wish!  Just use one of our blank page templates (see the "What's Included" page of this template).  Go to the Folder List (View, Folders) and open the template named blank.htm (or blank2.htm).  As soon as it is open, go to File, Save AS... - then save it as the name you want your new page to have.  Now, go to the Navigation view (View, Navigation).  Is your Folder List open as well?  If not, the go to View, Folder LIST to open it.  Next, locate the new filename in the Folder List (it's probably at the bottom), left click over it and while holding down the left mouse button, drag it over into the Navigation Structure and drop it where you want it, so that it is underneath either the Home page or another existing page.  Repeat every time you wish to add a new page!

Why can't I change the (pick a word) in the header and footer sections???

  • The upper and lower portions of the inside pages are contained in included, separate pages for your convenience.  This way, you only have to make the modifications on one page for them to appear on all pages.  Open the pages include_top(x).htm and  include_bot.htm to make your changes, save, and you're done!

Can I put my own images in the text area of the page?

  • Sure - you can do virtually anything with this template you can do with any web.  The only thing to make note of is not to make your pictures so wide that they will go off the side of the page in lower resolutions.

How do I modify the text boxes on the left?

  • We have made two pages, "include_left.htm" and "include_left_2.htm", which contain the text box information  you see throughout the pages of this web.  Simply open those pages, make your changes, and they will appear on all pages.  Don't WANT a text box?  Simply delete the contents of the two pages!
