Vacation Bible school 2009

St. Joseph
Parish's Crocodile Dock Vacation Bible School, which was held June 8-12, was
buzzing with fun for kids. The 50 youngsters, ranging in age from 4 to 12,
grabbed their gear and set out on an exciting Bayou adventure, where they
discovered God’s presence.

The excited little ones
watched for God’s fingerprints in everyday life, met new and old friends and
learned to care for one another. They experienced making and sampling tasty
Snack Shack treats, going on a Bible Bayou Story adventure, singing catchy
cool songs, seeing exciting puppet shows, making crazy Crawfish Craft
creations and racing around at Gator Games. The goal was discovering that
God is active in their lives.
"It was such a great
experience," said St. Joseph parishioner Mary Nugent, who planned and
organized the Bayou adventure. She praised the others who volunteered to
make the fun-filled, swampy quest a reality for the young campers.

The idea was for the
kids to learn about God while having a lot of fun, explained Mary. Religious
concepts are easier for them to absorb when they are having a good time, she
said. Seeing how eager the kids were to come back the next day was "such a
great feeling," added the dedicated wife and mother of five.
