Paul
Storer of St. Joseph Parish says he gives because you
never know when someone close to you is going to need
blood. When a person goes to the hospital and needs blood ...
This is where it comes from. "I feel it's a pay it forward
thing." Watch below as he highlights part of the
process. |
Carol Berg,
who is the wife of St. Joseph Parish's late Deacon Andy, gives
blood because she understands it saves lives. Her
husband, who was an avid donor before his illness, had many surgeries requiring
large sums of blood. Her family's giving is their way of
somehow helping replenish the supply. Watch her testimonial.

Did you know?
More than 1 million new people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Many
of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy
treatment. Cheryle Strother of St. Joseph Parish is a cancer survivor
and recipient of blood transfusions.

kind-hearted words about giving the gift of life.
The
demand for blood transfusions is growing faster than
the
number of donations coming in at blood drives. But, giving is such
a simple thing to do. It's a four-step process: registration and medical
history, mini-physical, donation and refreshments.

to parishioner Melissa Marcotte's rationale for giving blood.
The actual blood
donation typically takes less than 10-12 minutes. The entire process,
from the time you arrive to the time you leave, takes about an hour. One
donation can help save the lives of up to 3 people.
If you began
donating blood at age 17 and donated every 56 days until you reached 76,
you would have donated 48 gallons of blood, potentially helping save
over 1,000 lives!

about why she gives blood.
