Below is some
information about receiving the sacrament at St. Joseph Parish:
At least one of
the persons (or their parents) must be a member of St. Joseph
Parish. (Click
here to download a registration form. Print the form,
complete it, and return it to the parish office or in the Sunday
collection basket).
An engaged couple must make
arrangements at least six months prior to the wedding date. It’s a
good idea not to reserve a reception hall before confirming the
wedding date with the parish.
After contacting
the parish, the couple will meet with the priest or deacon. The
couple must decide if they want the ceremony within the context of a
Mass or prayer service. Weddings are usually scheduled at 1:30 p.m.
on Saturdays at St. Joseph Parish. (A Friday might be available upon
request).
St. Joseph Parish
doesn’t take the sacrament of marriage lightly. Thus, the parish
strives to equip couples with tools that will help in married life.
Our parish offers a one-on-one marriage preparation program. You
will meet with a sponsor couple about three times before the
wedding. Another option is attending an
Engaged Encounter weekend
offered by the Diocese of Joliet.
The parish will
provide the couple with a wedding packet, which includes an array of
pertinent information, including details about flowers, decorations
and music, and various instructions about the ceremony.
We look forward
to helping make this a most moving and special day. We want to
assist as you prepare for one of the most wonderful experiences of
human life—celebrating your love in marriage and God’s presence in
your lives.
Your love for
each other reminds us of God’s love for us and brightens our lives.
Thank you for the honor of making St. Joseph Parish the place where
you and your loved ones celebrate this most joyous occasion.
Call the parish
office, 815-939-3573, to schedule your wedding ceremony and for
