The Sacrament of
Holy Orders—Through this
sacrament, the mission entrusted by Christ to the Apostles continues
as priests, deacons and bishops minister to God's people. |
|
A priest has the awesome
responsibility and privilege of bringing Christ’s presence to
believers in the most joyous and painful times of life.

“It’s an exciting
adventure” was the late Joliet Auxiliary Bishop Roger L. Kaffer’s
mantra during his years of active ministry. |
|
When asked by parents with misgivings about the possibility of priesthood
for their sons, Father Burke Masters, vocation director for the Joliet
Diocese, often responds, “Do you want your son to be happy?”
While
oftentimes difficult and challenging, the vocation of a priest is
extremely rewarding and joyful. “Why wouldn’t you support or encourage such
a way of life?” he asks. |
