Youth Ministry Past
The youth
group models lacked longevity, and often changed drastically
from one Youth Minister to the next. There would only be one
“Youth Minister.” “The Youth Minister” would commonly last
on average of 18 months.
Youth
Ministry of the past was commonly known as a youth group.
The youth group would generally meet only on Sunday Evenings
Learning
about the Past
We are working on getting to
know about the history of Youth Ministry at St. Joseph
Parish. Stories have been shared about Youth Ministry in
the 80’s and 90’s, and we would like to collect this
information to archive and share with the community. If you
participated, as a teen, or volunteer we’d like to hear from
you. Any information about what activities, programs, and
events, who were the leaders, Youth Ministers, and
approximate dates would be greatly appreciated to get a
good picture of where Youth Ministry has been and how it has
developed over the years. Of special interest is the
information about Youth Ministry prior to 2002, the
beginning of YLC, Harvest Sunday, and other events. Thank
you in advance for your help in this project. Please e-mail

Youth Ministry Present
The current
Youth
Ministry has a foundation in the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops' document, “Renewing the Vision: A
Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry."
Youth
Ministry today is seen as the work of the whole parish.
The
position of Youth Ministry Coordinator is a respected
professional career.
The term
"youth group" is generally not used because Youth Ministry is no
longer only in a group setting.
Youth Ministry Possible Future
Youth
Ministry will continue to grow in depth, and vision.
Faith
communities will continue to embrace youth ministry, and
intentionally make it an important part of the parish.
Youth
Ministry Coordinators will continue to be better trained.
Youth
Ministry will be made up of many ministries done by many
different teens.
Youth
Ministry will transform the way it is done to fill the needs
of youth and family.
